In Conversation With The RANGREZA Team
As it was not your first film experience, how was working on Rangreza different from your other projects?
Urwa Hocane: Each character is different and has its own life. My character in Rangreza is called Reshmi, and how I look at her is that she is a beautiful girl at heart. She understands music very differently; this is important as music connected all of us in the film. It is evident in the movie that Reshmi has strong family values which she holds onto regardless of what goes on in her life.
My experience was great. We shot this film for a year and a half, and we all shared amazing moments. In fact, I would say we spent almost two years together, adding the promotions. As a cast, we developed a bond, and like every set I have been on, there were some great memories that I will cherish forever that are exclusive to my experience working in Rangreza.
The audience can enjoy a little bit of drama, action and suspense as well, and towards the end there is an essential social message, a global crisis, which we very politely and discreetly addressed, keeping the entertainment value intact.
What does Rangreza offer to the audiences?
Urwa Hocane: There is beautiful music, drama, comedy, romance and everything one usually looks for in a film. It is a complete package for everyone, no matter what age group; there is a part of the film which connects with everyone.
Bilal Ashraf: Adding onto what Urwa said, it also visits the different socio-economic backgrounds and how they come together. A lot of people have a certain perception of the poor and a different judgment of the rich, Rangreza is an amalgamation of both.
Gohar Rasheed: Apart from the love and romance, the audience can enjoy a little bit of drama, action and suspense as well, and towards the end there is an essential social message, a global crisis, which we very politely and discreetly addressed, keeping the entertainment value intact. This was done so that when the audience leaves the cinema hall, the thought stays in their mind. There is also an item number, a male item number, which is performed by me and is unique to what people are used to seeing.
Do you not feel love triangles are overdone?
Urwa Hocane: I don’t think so. This one I felt is not linear. There are a lot of layers to it which are revealed over the passage of the movie.
Any future projects that you would like to talk about?
Urwa Hocane: I won’t be able to say what project I will be in next, but I plan to shine on and simply follow my heart.
